Chicago Independent Film: Vulture City Movie Premiere Exclusive Interviews

I had the pleasure of seeing the movie premiere of Vulture City on January 16, 2011; an independent film, written, directed, and produced by Marcus Carothers. He chronicles his life as a son of a single mom addicted to Heroin, raised in the Robert Taylor Project by his grandmother. Kicked out of the streets at an early age, he turns to a life of gang banging, narcotic dealing and crime. He chronicles his truth and the truth of what life is like in the projects of Chicago and his will to make a turn around to becoming a successful film maker and actor.

This film had plenty of Chicago nostalgia like during a police chase, his character is running up the long flights of stairs in the Robert Taylors to the soundtrack of The Bucket Boys drumming away on their buckets with drum sticks, DJ Slugo is featured spinning on the 1's and 2's during a Juke party he and his friends attended, posing for the camera and the infamous "L" stop at 47th along with shots of 47th st.

I loved this film and I hope that it makes it to the "Big Screen". This film told the truth of life on the Southside of Chicago, the struggle to get out of our own way in order to reach our highest potential, and the pain that hurting people cause one another.

Please see the film if you can catch it. I think they are premiering in Milwaukee soon. Lets see how we can promote this film to reach Hollywood and the Big Screens around the nation.
